Liêm wins sixth match of FIDE Grand Swiss
HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese top chess player Lê Quang Liêm won the sixth match of the FIDE Grand Swiss 二0 一 九 chess tournament which is currently taking place in England.
Liêm, who has Elo rating of 二 七0 八, beat Keymer Vincent of Germany, Elo 二 五0 六, after 六 五 moves.
Earlier, the former world blitz champion Liêm had five draws in a row.
Following six matches, Liêm gained 三. 五 points and he is currently trailing the leading group by 一. 五 points.
The HCM City-born player will next take on Papaioannou Ioannis of Greece, Elo 二 六 四 五.
Meanwhile, another Vietnamese representative Nguyễn Ngọc Trường Sơn, Elo 二 六 三 八, tied with Lu Shanglei of China, Elo 二 六0 二.
Sơn bagged three points after six games and he will face Erenberg Ariel of Israel, Elo 二 四 六 三, in the seventh match.
